Cheryl came to us when she needed a professional author photo for the jacket of her new book "48 Peaks; Hiking and Healing in the White Mountains."
Steven D. Smith, editor and compiler of White Mountain Guide, 30th Edition said about the book:
"48 Peaks is the compelling story of one woman's hiking journey...and a meditation on life, loss, friendship, and love. This book should provide inspiration for many a hiker as they embark on their own mountain journeys."
She is an amazing and adventurous...

Is your idea of a 'photography studio' a place where fun fades away? Is it an impersonal, noisy kind of rush-you-in-and out place at a mall? Not here -- no way! At The Family Album we have fun! Children want to come back just to visit. And who can blame them? Our assistants Mr. Mookie and Madam Sheep know how to have a good time. They dance and tell stories and oh yeah-- can they make mischief!!! Nothing like a couple of crazy critters to get the expressions coming: laughter, thoughtfulness, sweet, spunky. These two know how to elicit all kinds of feelings and then we do our job and capture...
We love our fine art portraiture and we love it printed and framed!
When we create our fine art portraiture we begin at the beginning and we end at the end. The beginning is learning about who are clients are and how we can make them happy. As we plan the session we think about colors and textures. We think about character, personality and style. We put this all together and then forget about it while we enjoy a fun session together. Then we think about the design elements all over again as we select the final poses and plan the display. We love our fine art portraiture and we love it printed...
No phone pics!
OK we're going to say it - when it's time for your child's First Communion no phone pics should be allowed! At least not as the only record of your child's day. Celebrate it and savor the milestone and above all preserve it with a fine art portrait. The children feel so special on this day and it always shows in our portraits. You're the keeper of your your child's history. Let us create a fine art portrait and make a beautiful print on canvas or watercolor that you can decorate your home with. Another beloved option is to frame a collection...

Andrea Joliat~fine art nature photographs
I'm thrilled to announce that today I mounted a display of six of my nature photographs. The exhibit marks the official kick-off of my spin-off. The Family Album portraits has branched out to Andrea Joliat Photography, fine art nature photographs. The display, 'Finding Focus' is a collection of photographs that I created while pursuing my interest in macro photography of plants. While photographing flowers in the outdoors I began feeling that a beautiful perfect flower wasn't always what I related to. I found myself searching for something...
What does it mean to be an award-winning photographer and why do I enter competitions?
It must appear that I'm always talking about print competitions. In fact I often am. This is because I enter three of them each year and have served as a juror myself. The three competitions build on each other. There is the state level -- Professional Photographer's Association of Massachusetts (PPAM); and Professional Photographers of America's Northeast District Photographic and International Photographic Competitions. Since these take place at a different times it does seem to be endless!...
For the best results when you work with a professional photographer on a publicity portrait be sure to discuss the layout before not after the session! Cropping and layout shouldn't be an after-thought.
When we talk with clients planning a publicity, commercial or executive portrait session their questions often do not include layout. Many clients focus on the more obvious, and of course necessary, considerations such as clothing, backdrop and expression. While your publicity portrait can be cropped after the fact, a more artistic portrait can be created if we plan the layout ahead...
